Towns, Cities, Villages, are Like MMO's

All your lives, are belong to us.

 It's a pretty simple statement, and quite obvious to anyone who has played an MMO, but for those of you out there that haven't quite realised where the developers behind the original MMO's got their ideas from, I am here to enlighten you.

 There are those of you who will walk around town, big cities, airports and shops, and you will see similarities between life and games. Well first off, if no one has told you this, let me have the pleasure of informing you that you are a geek. A Big one, and somewhat sad aswell, but have no fear, as I am with you friend.

 See? We have the entertainer giving buffs, guilds meting up, people getting ready to quest(shop) and people just chilling...

 Ever noticed a 'Communal' area in your local town? Perhaps a 'Gathering' or 'Meeting' point for friends? In my home town it was the Clocktower and the Fountain, where everyone would meet, chill or just mess around before moving on. In MMO's these places are in abundance, and are always seen, in WOW it may be your affiliations city, in SWG it could be the Mos Eisley Cantina, in LOTRO it  could be the Prancing Pony...These areas are perhaps the focal point of MMO's where the e-Social happenings, occur. Where people meet, players request help, items are sold, and quests are completed. These areas are mirrored from reality.

In my current town there are 2, one is the picture above, the other is near a tree where performing talents (singers, people with instruments, and clowns) seem to perform for the people, whilst others just sit around waiting for friends.

In the picture below you will find 10's of noobs preparing for a raid...on McDonalds

 Now obviously the ideas between MMO's came from somewhere, but what better to build a game upon, other than Life itself. Of course! Games structured around life itself couldn't be more entertaining, and enthralling! The game offers the player a chance to live another life, under another identity, doing as they please, and enabling them to live out their favourite fantasy, be it a wizard, a bounty hunter, or maybe a alien/monster dancer (of the opposite sex).  In our lives Internet Gaming, and more specifically Massively Multiplayer Online games have taken a hold of the youth and the old. A chance to take on multiple lives and live and play in a place where they can do as they please when they please for a small fee each month, or even for free; the only real cost, is that of your life, and the multiple hours you will spend...

How about those places in games where the new players and beginners simply beg for items, help, and money... We have those too in real life. Unfortunately their situation is far more dire than that of the gamer; They are usually homeless. See how more things mirror the MMO? Conspiracy, Right?


These aren't very accurate figures, but as of recent times, and surveys the figures for individual MMO's are astounding...The companies must be super rich...

World of Warcraft: More than 12 Million

Runescape: 8.5 Million

Aion: 3.5 Million

Lineage I & II: 1.8 Million (est)


Plus multiple other games I can't be bothered to look into, however if you are interested a simple google search will give you the goods you need.

So many people love these MMO's, so many lives taken in which are more lived than their real life. Quite sad really... Anyway, next time you are out, my fellow geek and player; have a look around you and spot the similarities.

Or Don't. Not with family and friends anyway.

I get a decent amount of Blog views per day, ranging up to and around 500 if I submit a new post.

My blog has had about over 10,000 views in the blogs existence, which if you ask me is a healthy amount considering I have only been posting on it since last october'ish time.


Yet, I have still only got 2 Comments. Both on the same article. Why is this? Where is the love, the joy, the recognition, the acknowledgement that someone has actually read the article and not stared at the picture?

Check this out; I dreamt I made iPad teleporters!

I know! So cool...

It was awesome, It really was, I don't know why I was dreaming about the new iPad 2, as I don't want one, and haven't really followed the scene for it, but still; I did.

Basically, was at home and it was New Years Eve, and everyone was getting stuff ready, and then there was me. Sitting down on my laptop with like 10 iPads next to me, programming away. Straight away I start shouting, about I have done it, everyone else tells me it's not possible and is dangerous as it has been tried before.. So I just want to try it, but they won't let me :(...

So a while later I set it all up myself, one iPad across the road, and another in my house, and you quite simply press the button on the iPad then set it down and step on it. (How it didn't break is beyond me) So I made them do that , and they teleported to infront of me. I was so happy with my Teleportation app!

I even remember the Science behind it. It was something like you use this little sticky label to tell your unique frequency, and then set both your iPad to it and the one on the other end, and then it sends you across... Awesome...

Anyway that was all in my dream, nothing else I am afraid chaps.

Crysis 2, Nanosuit Uses! For Friends and Family!

Ever Played, or heard of Crysis? Well if you haven't go get that shit.


It's a great game, one of the few that really do set a benchmark for both physics and graphics, unfortunately it's not industry standard, but at least we have it.


Well, Crysis 2 will be coming out soon, I am sure I will get my grubby hands on it at some point...However that is not why I am writing, or why you are staring at this entry. You are here because I told you to be here, and because I am going to rant about how I, should have a nanosuit. And why I should have it, or perhaps why we, the gamers should have it...So, lets make a list of some real simple things we would do if we had the suit!

It's awesome. Look at it, it has what look like ligaments and muscles all over it. So it looks sweet

It has a pretty visor. Reminds me of some ski goggles I busted a few years back in Vermont

All of that is so generic though, so lets think deeper, into gaming benefits...

We all know that in some games, perhaps some FPS's it's all about who pushes the button first, if we are graced with a good connection. Well with the nanosuit, all your worries of losing a sword fight on Halo, a Pistol Duel on COD, or a missing a Healing spell on WoW by nanoseconds, are all gone.

We can click and smash buttons at higher speed!

If we need to piss we can get to the Toilet and back in record breaking times, and not miss an important spawn on your favourite MMO or lose the game for your team in capture the flag!

You can run to the shop for supplies for your gaming session.

You can impress your partner by picking up people on the street and using them as

You can push cars out the way. Just for the lolz.

You can defend against velociraptor's with new found strength...


And whilst  doing all of this, you can look extremely badass... Such abilities in life, and privileges like this are often sought after. So. The plan is we all put some money in and purchase one....from the future.

Apart from that slight awesomeness I am just being overwhelmed with presentations and slideshows to do notes on. So much. I can't be assed with it, and I have a book to read. :'( No idea when it's going to get done... I pray all of it will be done before next week... I finished one presentation, started another; 50 slides in. Got another 130 slides to do, then another with 160 slides. So much Networking!

Today, I Fucked Up. Big time.

Yeap, Today was one of those days where you just screw up big time.

What did I do? Well you wouldn't understand if I tried to explain it to you, it's more of a personal/private thing that we share.

Basically, I made a joke, but it was related to something, a subject which you could say is quite sensitive... And because of that, it was taken the wrong way... and from that it escalated from something small to something quite worrying...

The problem with all of this is me. I shouldn't of done the joke, and should of thought of the consequences, and the possible impacts it could of had on us... Now despite the fact its said to be forgotten, I worry and think about how stupid I am.

Now I have put myself back in that place where I am not trusted.

A Position, I have tried so hard to get out of. I have tried everything, and done well on most, in order to regain trust which I threw away foolishly... And I had it back - but I have lost it again I think. I worry.


 Am I just destined to constantly fuck up everything?

Allow me; please.


Sigh, put all that aside, we finished LOST Season 5 Today. Rawr. Tasty; We should be starting the new one soon ;D

I have asked myself this question today:

Why Blog?

I asked it as I pondered writing a blog; understandably it has been a few days, in fact more than that, and I have been extremely pinned down in a non sexual with all sorts of University work, problems in general  and a lot to deal with, but fear not my intense readers; all will be revealed in this here, Post!

The answer to the above question will be below the following rant, and update on my life; feel free to scroll there, but let me advise you, the following is juicyy, perhaps as juicy as recent Action Film and Game releases...


And So It Begins:


 We are set our assignment for Introduction to Programming ... Its pretty intense; we are given a look at what we have to achieve, and the UI for it and then we have to program it, majority of it looks achievable, but there are sections which we deliberately haven't been taught , so we can learn and research them ourselves...

 In relation to this, I thought I would further my education and get myself some juicy reading; Visual Basic 2008 for Dummies, with this I could imrpove my overall productivity and understand of VB and research the new methods ... Great plan? Damn straight it's a great plan; but like most great plans in history; it fucked up.

The Problem?

 I ordered from my super reliable source on the internet; www.play.com ..
I expected my order a few days ago... It did not come. In fact, it still hasn't come; as I write this I am getting moody over it! (angry face) ...However I do believe the local post are to blame... As my housemate ordered something off of amazon, on first class, which also hasn't arrived. Evidently things are not going well where parcels are concerned.

Project Management in an IT Role...

...is the name of my assignment for one of my modules; we quite simply assigned the role of a project manager surrounding some sort of new technological product which has been delayed due to 'issues' in development, which you must both create, and solve, whilst discussing the ethical, professional and legal issues involved.

Feisty stuff right?

Truth be told, it's been an interesting assignment...but it has taken its toll, and I have been hammered with work recently... I did my assignment on Wireless Power; and focused on the Company WiTricity. I assumed their role, and modified their products, and other products to create a hybrid, which does work. Awesome I know. Anyway, what is time consuming was making individual custom powerpoint templates for a slideshow... 

Fuck you Hacker; Damn you Amazon...

Why so angry Jon? Why? Because on Monday morning, per chance I check my emails to see about 5 or 6 from Amazon confirming that I bought some stuff :

As I am browsing through the emails wondering wtf; I get some more. This shit, Is happening RIGHT NOW?! I am like :| - So  I jump on amazon, and change my password. Hacker HALTED! HooHa for me...But the damage is done; Costs accumulating to £60  hit my bank account... I then go and check my basket. The dude was going to buy (ironically) a Firewall... :'( and a Camera. BUT WAIT. Listen to this. The dude whoever they may be, was checking out for discount cameras; at least they had the decency to look for one at a reduced price, so I can save those pennies :)...

In heinsight, If I waited just a little more, they may of put their address in...and I could of caught them! However, this is not the case..And what's done is done.

Sigh. 

I somehow had my account compromised; How it happened was beyond me.

BANG! HAVING FRUIT THIS MORNING. WHAT HAPPENS; FILLING COMES OUT; RESULT?

FUCK YOU FILLING

...also FML.

So I take a trip to the dentist...Dentist shut. FML. So go chemist to get some form which, as a student allows me to claim cash back for things like dental and such...Turns out the form is assessed and because I get the full student loan I would probably not get the cash back...Forking out £100ish is not going to be fun after the damage already placed on my bank account.

And to top it all off.. And don't worry; its quick.

The Hairdresser Butchered my hair.

...to the bad things, at least I hope so.

On the good side, Having many giggles with my girlfriend recently, and we played Top Trumps; just the two of; about whats bad and good about eachother.Sweet.
