Currently a Work in progress!
The 'University Toolbox' is a project I am currently working on, which will combine various programming skills, and will be a valuable tool to any 'to-be' or current student. In this article I will discuss parts of the design, the idea and features.
Currently the program is undergoing production, with various aspects and features! It's original purpose was to be more of a financial aid to help users calculate term time costs, from their loan or original financial lump some, and then allow the user to input additional costs such as phone bills, weekly shopping or anything else they could think of.
I am a big fan of Adobe's work, and I have always loved their logos, and colour schemes, so I thought why not steal it for the logo and design. It's currently using a CS4 kind of look, whilst still busting out the good old windows themes!
The first above image is a preview of the Finance Tab, where the user can input their starting cash lump some and their choice of currency, as well as an output, and the second image shows part where the user can tick any possible extra costs!
When at university all kinds of problems arise, and of those the last ones you want are errors, and problems with your Laptop or PC! So within the program I will be installing a selection of modules which may be able to help you solve any problems you have. One problem I know I have experienced in my first year in student accommodation, is where the internet will go however there are simple fixes for it if you are 'tech' minded, but not everyone is, so I also added a feature to release and renew the network should you experience problems!
The picture above shows one of the diagnostics sections for your System! Hardly finished; and still looking pretty rough its nothing to show off... However, in time I hope in install some useful modules. I won't be showing the internet tab, as despite its functionality currently being 100% it is a mess with buttons and labels everywhere...
Anyway that's the end of the preview and I hope you like what you see, and I look forward to sharing more information as the program takes shape.
